The Hoboken High School Baseball team finished off their season with a tough loss in the state tournament to Bloomfield Tech by a score of 1-0. The team finished off the season with a 6-18 record and enjoyed wins against Marist, Paterson Charter, Snyder, McNair, Lincoln, St. Anthony. The team was led offensively by John Casella who batted .420 with 29 hits and 24 RBI’s and had a 3.75 ERA on the mound. Senior Ricky Roder batted .292 and Junior Nick Sobolov batted .265. Sophomore’s Nick Burke and Lenny Roman both had 2 wins on the mound. Junior pitcher Todd Perkins was 1-1 on the mound and Junior John Casella had 1 win also. Juniors Jimmy Rosa and Josue Roman and Senior’s Jon Garcia and Sam Sobolov made significant contributions to the team this year.
With a slew of returners and a solid JV program, the Redwings will begin concentrating on next year with summer workouts and offseason conditioning. The future is bright for the Redwings on the diamond!!!
