In high school football, there might be nothing more exciting than a great running back.
Backs that have power, speed and elusiveness can electrify a crowd with a long run and carry a team – literally – to a championship.
New Jersey has developed its share of elite backs and over the past three decades there have been plenty who have went on to big-time colleges, won the nation’s top awards and been drafted in the first round to play in the NFL.
Former Redwing Football standouts Dwayne Peterson (Class of ’90) and Tyrell Dortch (Class of ’00) — who is currently serving as an assistant coach for this year’s team — have been named to the top 30 running backs in the past 30 years in the state of NJ. Congratulations to Dwayne and Tyrell, as well all their teammates and coaches, for this amazing accomplishment….Way to go Redwings!!!
