Redwings News · Girls Soccer Recap — 2017

The 2017 Lady Redwings’ Soccer Team, led by Head Coach Jackie Gennarelli and Assistant Coach Victoria Gemma, proved that the hard work and dedication of 27 student-athletes could very well lead to success, finishing the season as HCIAL White Division Champions for the second season in a row.


The guidance of senior captains Sophia Battaglia, Lizeth Oliva, Veronica Mannillo, and Maeve Munroe, proved to have a positive effect as they posted a record of 12 wins (4 by way of shutout), and 9 losses, while qualifying for both the county and state playoffs and receiving the #4 seed in both tournaments.

Elyse Santiago led the team with 13 goals and 5 assists, while Zoe Higgins had 8 goals and 15 assists, Charlotte Foberg had 8 goals and 9 assists, and Josephine Conlon had 8 goals and 8 assists. In goal, Victoria Bravo, and Rhea Theodore helped the Redwings to their 12 wins.


Each and every member of this team played a vital role in this season’s successes.  The team’s individual achievements include landing 3 members on the all-league first team, 3 members on the all-league second team, and 2 earning honorable mention for Hudson County Interscholastic Athletic League. As well as Coach Gennarelli being named the HCIAL Coach of the Year.


Look to the future of the Lady Redwings in 2018 as they return 23 student-athletes.
